Barbara Pratt received a BA in Theatre Arts from UCLA, and worked onstage and on film in New York City for several years. She is thrilled to be back among friends in Waxhaw, NC, where she lived for 15 years and juggled raising three sons, acting, and working as a middle school theatre arts educator.
The Storefront Theatre is a readers theater performance venue working together to change our community through the delight of humorous, dramatic, emotional and impactful stories written and performed by local actors and playwrights.
Barb has been busy with her own brand of mischief and has performed regularly in productions such as The Birds, God of Carnage, The God Game, Angels in America, Company, and Jekyll and Hyde in her new home in New Hartford, located in Central New York. And even though she is the only one on the stage, she would like to thank the many people whose time, talent, encouragement and generosity went into bringing this show to life, especially her patient and loving family. Thanks to Greg Paroff, who planted the seed by giving her this beautiful script eight years ago, and to the perceptive and persistent Pat Stone, who helped her grow into the character of Emily Dickinson. It has been a wonderful journey to inhabit this woman, speak her words, and explore her world. Her poetry and her passion are contagious; she reminds us to find ecstasy in living and to dwell in possibility.
